Same-Day Cardiac Clearance: What Referring Surgeons Need to Know | B&B Medical Group
Eliminating the Cardiac Clearance Bottleneck
Every surgeon has experienced it: a patient is scheduled, pre-op is complete, the OR is booked — and then the case stalls because cardiac clearance hasn’t come through. The patient gets bounced between offices, waits weeks for a cardiology appointment, and the surgical timeline stretches out.
At B&B Medical Group, we built our cardiac clearance program specifically to solve this problem. Our interventional cardiologist, Dr. Harry Balian (FACC, FSCAI), provides same-day pre-surgical cardiac evaluations at our Bellflower center — so your patients get cleared quickly and your surgical schedule stays on track.
What We Provide
Our cardiac clearance evaluations are comprehensive and tailored to the surgical procedure your patient is facing. Depending on the clinical situation, our assessment may include a thorough cardiac history and physical examination, resting EKG, exercise or pharmacologic stress testing, echocardiography, and a detailed risk stratification report.
Dr. Balian evaluates each patient individually, accounting for the type of surgery planned, the patient’s cardiac history, current medications, and risk factors. The goal is a clear, actionable recommendation — not a generic form letter.
Fast Turnaround on Reports
We understand that surgical timelines are tight. Our team prioritizes rapid turnaround on clearance reports so you have the information you need to proceed with confidence. For straightforward cases, results are often available the same day.
Who Refers to Us for Cardiac Clearance?
We work with a wide range of referring providers, including general surgeons needing pre-operative cardiac risk assessment, orthopedic surgeons before joint replacements, nephrologists whose dialysis patients need vascular access surgery, urologists, gynecologists, and other specialists whose patients have cardiac risk factors.
Because B&B Medical Group also performs vascular surgery and dialysis access procedures in-house, we can handle the entire workflow for patients who need both cardiac clearance and a vascular procedure — reducing handoffs and delays.
